By 7am we were all dressed and ready - it was pouring with rain outside but the aircon was still on full blast! This was going to be an interesting morning...
Our first stop was to get boots (and today) weather proof clothing for all four of us.
P-J and Jorja are old farm hands already, so they looked almost normal in their rain weather trousers and mandatory boots. Ethan on the other hand looked like a Hazmat technician! It didn't matter what I was wearing - by the end of the day I'd be wearing whatever Ethan had in his hand or on his boots at any given time.
Off to the Fodder House to prepare the breakfast for the cows and calves, pigs and piglets, chicken, sheep and lamb...

Oops! Miss Jorja slipped off the step and into the mud...

With a pressure hose close at hand, we gave her a quick rinse, a tight squeeze and then set her on her way again!
Now to refill the trays and clean up:
Back home by 11.30am and it's time for 2nd breakfast... Dad did not disappoint!
After a morning like this, the kids were
almost happy to be sent for a nap while I tried a new recipe for oat biscuits. Sadly, biscuit recipes that leave out flour, seldom produce the desired result. In the end, it was not blog-worthy. We didn't even bother to take a photo!
I finally took a walk around the perimeter of the farm this afternoon - after 3 weeks! P-J and Jorja followed closely behind riding the quad bike and Ethan rode on...my back. Sjoe - that was a work out. When we returned, Jorja showed us that she is now quite comfortable petting the chickens and Ethan was happy to swing until supper time.

"Hey! How come she gets to go higher than me?"

And for dinner: St Croix Lamb Shepherds Pie with lots of home grown elements and lots of happy tummies!
