Jorja's Shoes

It was a weekend to remember - the sun was out in full force and Jorja needed to expose her toes! To add to that, Jorja's tomy takkies had finally given up the ghost and Wellies in Summer was not an option! We visited Ackermans in Ottery and were relieved to find basic takkies for daycare and general use. We also found a pretty pair of sandals, complete with pink flower piece and light blue beading. Jorja was so chuffed with this arrangement, that she walked out of the store with them on! And did she have fun watching her toes wiggle all day? Jorja enjoys playing in the garden at home Jorja inspects her Dad's 'Office' in Llandudno And while we're on the topic, it is very exciting to report that we were finally able to test out the Paez shoes that we brought from Argentina! It's a very common shoe in BA - ' Born and Raised in Argentina ' This Friday, Fellowship Bible Church (our home church) together with Cape Mission International will embark on

100 Posts Today!

Launched (in ernest) in March 2010, capturing our entire Argentina trip until now, we have reached 100 blog entries! You must know, that it's mostly for you, our beloved friends and family afar...and also partly for our own record keeping before the memories begin to fade... I have enjoyed blogging for the most part. Some posts required more discipline than others and some days I found it harder to string a sentence together, than other days. But hey, I'm not out to contend for the SA Blog Awards! Today, as should be any day, there are many things to be thankful for. Yes, it's a Thankful Thursday! I am thankful for the long weekend that we are looking forward to. And even if we do nothing extra-ordinary, I am very thankful for a break in the work week and some time to relax at home! I miss that very much! I am thankful for Jorja's progress. Looking back to the start of the blog, I am in awe of how much she's grown - even her hairstyle is very different these days! I

Spot of tea, anyone?

I heard on the radio this morning about a Mom who loves tea... And whose Mom doesn't? The guy reckoned, "...it doesn't matter what's going on around her (or you)...even if you walk through the door and you've just lost your leg, she'll say ' That's okay my boy, let's have a cup of tea and it will make it all better!'... and I believe her!" Jorja shares a cup of (soil) tea with birthday-girl cousin, Riley Jane I have many cups of tea to be thankful for! [P-J has always commented about how much tea the Hendricks household consumes...] Just this week: The cup of tea that helped ease my aching heart when I read about the Mommy baboon killed in Simonstown and her baby left orphaned and confused, standing by her corpse. I was reminded of the bond shared between parents and their children. It all changed so quickly for this young one. We are so privileged to have our parents! The cup of tea we enjoyed with our Geduld grandparents one evening - hos

M-O-M's the word!

Saturday's Joy of Motherhood conference was such an informative, generous and enjoyable affair! Nadine and I had a great time, meeting other Moms, being reminded of how to take care of ourselves too (even within a tight and demanding schedule) and being updated on the latest child care, nutrition and social issues. If you're based in Cape Town, don't miss out on the next one! We joined in with Robyn's birthday celebrations on Monday - Jorja walked around Cattle Baron as if she worked there! She kept us so busy that we lay low on Tuesday...On Wednesday, the cast of Hopes and Dreams supported St Faith's Mission Week by rendering a few of the items from the August production. Nothing quite like a mid-week dance item to lift the spirits! In the meantime, Jorja has also fallen ill. We suspect that it's a hayfever/allergy-thing and will have to take her to have it examined. However, this has not put a damper on her social ability or activity...and she is still happ

The week that has been...

"Life as we see it", right? My time so far at the cycle tour office is reminding me of just how demanding life in this age can be - a time seeking instant solution and gratification: We want it now! We won't wait! This is what makes a relaxing, easy going activity seem so rewarding! We've always been fortunate enough to cook with pleasure - obviously more for mine! And since returning from BA, we've also found great enjoyment from leisurely strolls in the neighbourhood or at Sea Point promenade. Take time for this! Here's what we've been a part of this past week: We were encouraged to see a group of students from Bishops come out (even in the rain) and join with the FBC team in painting a mural on the school's new diningroom and kitchen wall. For news and updates visit: http://www.fbcschool.org.za/ We joined over 15 000 walkers in a quest to feed the hungry children in the Western Cape, by participaing in the Blisters for Bread walk on Sunday. We tackl
