"Maine, ma bru!" We packed the cars and head East to the coast...Cheese and ham foil rolls, grapes and pretzel padkos, movies on demand and the open road ahead of us.
(Well, actually, the roads were quite busy, now that we're used to the White River Junction 'traffic'.)
Just two hours later we pulled into the parking lot at The Beachwood in Old Orchard Beach. We scored an early check-in and were very excited to get a head start on the fun!
After the boys toured the room and unpacked a little, we moseyed down to pool - heated to a toasty 85 degrees F, nogal. I think Ethan was beginning to wonder when I was going to pull out the bath toys and soap! Jorja made herself at home in the pool, first working out the deep end from the shallow end before practicing her underwater handstands.
For a late lunch, we took the Barf Tour down the Pier - tasting their famous Pier Fries, Haddock bites and mammoth Pizzas. We had to take a rain check on a local delicacy: fried dough!
Once we'd walked off some of that meal, we hit the beach. Once again we realised that kids are never a reliable weather gauge. Even though the wind was howling and the sea water was considerably colder than the pool, the boogie boards were out!
By sunset, we needed warm tops and shoes as we went on the search for Maine lobster dinner, of course!
P-J also prepared some rib-eye steak and sausage on the grill and we ate like the rich and famous on deck overlooking the sea. From behind our tired eyes, we watched the moonlight dance off the waves as we shuffled off to bed.
