As the temperatures continued to plummet this week, we were reminded of what it feels like without central heating - just for a short while - when our furnace cut out. Fortunately, it was all sorted in a few hours and today we're sitting cosy and dry despite continuous downpour, 2 to 4 degree average Celsius temperatures, hail and a little snow!
So grateful for weekends that validate pyjamas days!
Some exciting things happened this week -
We had a fire drill at Church and when we filed out the building, I realised that it was snowing too! As part of the protocol, everyone leaves from where they are instead of running back and forth between venues (i.e. Kids in Sunday School will be led out by their teachers etc.). So when I was finally reunited with the children, I found them staring in bewilderment and wonder at the white flakes falling from the sky, instead of hustling back indoors to the warmth and shelter. Spot the tourists!
We had a big win with Home Affairs in South Africa! Not without several teeth pulling experiences before then, but not something that many people say often, either. Sometimes, the admin we have to do back home is easier said than done and we rely on the generosity of time and effort from family and friends - despite their own full schedules. So what a relief to get this ticked off!
E's injury from a short while back healed up nicely with minimal scarring...just in time for Baby to take a tumble in the great outdoors. If you ask her, she'll say that she "fell in the leaves". But as I write this, both patients are almost fully recovered and back to their usual shenanigans.
We visited the Farm before school on Friday to check out the new pig pen. All very neat and clean (and hopefully secure) so that the little ones will stop digging themselves into mischief all over the farm! It was quite fun heading over in our pyjamas, boots, jackets and wooly hats. The sunshine was great up on the hill too despite the early morning fresh temps that we're growing accustomed to now!
J and E have each had a chance to bunk with Ma during Pa's absence. But their days are numbered... Soon we'll have everyone back home, all the time, again. Good for keeping warm, I say!

Nothing like pyjama days! Not for me, but Kirsty enjoys them too! Glad they are having all these beautiful experiences.
