Day 45

Today, 'moving day' just happened to coincide with Pops’ birthday. By the time P-J was ready to head up to do his farm chores, I was already heading out the door with the single bed base so that I could get an early start on things. I think Pops would be happy with that sentiment!

Happy Birthday Pops

When P-J returned, the kids and I were well ready for a change in scenery! After making up the beds, we took a break from the moving to Skype call the Hendricks family and join the festivities from afar. Zac was singing the loudest Happy Birthday and it was good to see everyone (and of course, Jorja and Ethan loved the fact that they had to sacrifice their nap time for this). After the catch up, P-J started preparing dinner – Moroccan inspired spiced chicken kebabs with zucchini, spaghetti with fresh bolognaise sauce and regular braaied chicken on the side. What move day is complete without a braai to close things off?

Just as we got ready to head up to the farm, a hail storm hit! And of course, I couldn’t remember which suitcase had the wet and cold weather clothing in it…

The storm passed soon after and we were on our way.

At bed time, after being so excited about the move to our own space, Jorja was suddenly overcome with sadness that she wasn’t sleeping in her old bed at Didi’s house. But when she realised that her new room had pretty yellow and pink bedding complete with matching throw cushions and curtains, she happily hopped into bed. The night wasn’t too long, with both Jorja and Ethan staying in their beds until morning…I suppose it did help that I was right there with them the entire time!
